Summary of On-Foot T-hunt held last Saturday, May 17th, 2014 at Penasquitos Creek Park, San Diego, CA.A total of 31 people converged on the Park, some as early as 10:00 AM for the 10:30 start times. Weather was pleasant considering the previous week with up to 11 wildfires burning in San Diego County and temperatures up to 100 degrees with wind gusts up to 40 mph! Four days before when we were checking signal strength the Porta-Potty by where we were set up for the Hunt had blown over due to wind gusts..... Photo will be on website eventually.... All T's were Micro-Fox's vertically polarized signals. T's 2 & 3 had 3 ele. yagis as antennas, the rest were stock Micro-Fox antennas. Thanks to Dick, WB6ZAM for loaning us 2 Micro-Foxes for the hunt.... sorry you and Mary-Lou could not be there.Joe, N6SZO & Joe, KE6PHB met at the park at 0730 to start unloading. Our hired help stayed at the park while we took off to plant the 5 T's throughout the Park. When unloading things at T-2 we realized that we had left the punches back at the start point so one of us had to return to retrieve them putting a 25 minute delay into our set up timing. After setting up T-2 and then T-3, KE6PHB took off on his trail bike to set T-4 & T-5. After the third trip to the park to determine T placement and verify maps Joe, KE6PHB, decided that using his trail bike would save lots of walking time due to the placement locations of T-4 & T-5. Joe," N6SZO drove into the park to set T-1 and then returned to the start point about 10:15 and found some people were all ready congregating with anticipation to start the hunt.A ""Practice ""T"" was set out on 144.100 MHz for those that wanted to check their equipment. Adequate H2O", Gatorade, Sodas & Juice were available throughout the day. Of the 31 people present 6 did not participate in the actual hunt but contributed by assisting with the logistics of keeping the BBQ stuff out of the sun and monitoring the hunt activities. about 13 people stuck around for the BBQ which started a little later than we expected due to lack of matches..... Thanks go out to Tony, WA6ZMZ who donated quite a few sodas," juice and a few other ""Cold Adult Beverages"" but could not make the hunt that day to enjoy them. Thanks also to Felly", KG6KLM and Richard, KK6LAS who stuck around after the BBQ to help us load up all the equipment, ice chests, pop-ups and left-over food and also Joe, KE6PHB who spent many long hours calibrating the Micro-Fox's for your hunting enjoyment. The results of the On-Foot Hunt are as follows:Bill, W6ZM, Robin, KC6LEA, & Bryan, KI6DUR - 5 T's, 2 hours, 2 minutes. Mark, K6MHO, & Trevor--5 T's, 3 hours,29 minutes. Tom, K6VCR - 5 T's, 3 hours,33 minutes. Robert, N9SCD - 4 T's, 2 hours, 53 minutes. Matt, N6EAJ, & Ed, KI6JMK -4 T's, 3 hours, 19 minutes. Greg, W6BAF & Rich, AI6AI, Richard & London - 3 T's, 2 hours, 43 minutes. Ted, KJ6YAL, & Declan - 3 T's, 2 hours, 55 minutes. Richard, KK6LAS. Devin, Curtis & Amy - 3 T's, 3 hours, 01 minutes. Tom, KJ6VOC, Beth, Daniel, Aaron & David - 2 T's, 2 hours, 27 minutes. Daniel, KJ6IOB - 1 T, 1 Hour, 54 minutes. Others present but that did not hunt were as follows: Joe, KE6PHB, Joe, N6SZO, Karen, KI6FON, Felly, KG6KLM,Jim (KE6PHB's brother) and Keela. Overall we proclaimed the day a success as far as the Hunt went. Would have liked to have had a few more people stick around for the BBQ but that is the way it goes! Anyway.... we hope everyone learned something, enjoyed the day and also had some fun while they were there.....Results will also be posted on W6ZM's website ( ) along with a few photos when time allows.Joe N6SZO & Joe, KE6PHB73's DON'T FORGET COUNTY-WIDE HUNT NEXT SATURDAY
