Remarks

"A brief summary of the Lakeside Ham Fest T-Hunt activities:, , We started setting up some pop-up canopies about 9:00 AM after we had 3 T-hunt vehicles placed in an area really close to the front door of the entrance to the Vendor area at the Ham Fest. We were right next to the vehicles thanks to Tim N6CUX who had roped off an area before the parking area opened early in the morning. This gave us much better exposure than where we were set up last year around behind the building where the talks were taking place. We set up two tables with the usual T-hunt equipment and put out 5 different micro-T's. One practice T on 144.100, a squawk box (146.565) hidden in a snickers bar wrapper on the check in table at the entrance to the vendor area and 3 other T's designated as T-1, T-2 & T-3 on 144.500,"" 145.800 and 146.300 with a duty cycle of on 30 seconds and off 30 seconds for those that wanted a taste of T-Hunting. We decided to use that timing so as to be able to have the folks that were trying this for the first time to have some time in between transmissions to explain the process as they moved along which worked well in our opinion. By 11:00 AM the temperature was in the 90's so things were kind of slow for awhile. We probably had 8 - 10 different people come by and attempt to find at least one hidden T. The two Boy Scouts really had a good time and asked lots of questions not only about hunting but about hiding as well. They sounded like they might even be inclined to get licensed as the """"Hiding aspect"""" really seemed to appeal to them! We started packing up about 2:00 some people wanted to go home and prepare for the hunt that evening. All in all it was a pretty constructive day"","" we handed out quite a few of our Tri-Folds for the T-hunt Group and pushed the """"Ride a long"""" idea since we had a hunt that evening although no one from the Ham Fest showed up we still had 5 regular teams out that evening."", Those in attendance from the S. D. T-Hunt Group include the following:, Tom, K6VCR, Bruce, K6AUW, Joe, KE6PHB, Joe, N6SZO, Bill, W6ZM & Robin, KM6HKS, Greg, W6BAF, Dick, WB6ZAM, Garry, NA6NA, Brian, KG6SMT, Tom, N2TEN & son Daniel, KM6BXP, Robert, N9SCD and Tim, N6CUX., A good time was had by most of us despite the heat., Joe N6SZO"
