Remarks

For something different, we started in one location and informed the hunters that we would move to another after the start. The transmitter was a 5 watt HT with a mag mount antenna. We started at the intersection of Mast and Cuyamaca in Santee (T1 on map). A couple minutes after the start, we began to move west on Mast. The intent was to prompt the hunters to initially head east. Then realize we were moving west and turn around. That didn't work quite as planned. Most of the hunters came north on the 125 and west on the 52 to the west end of Mast. We passed three teams as we approached the 52. Fortunately, only Tom spotted us. However, he was unable to announce the find because he only had a sniffer, no TX capability. We continued west on the 52 and then south on Ruffin Rd. We heard some traffic on the hunt freq that some of the hunters were no longer receiving the signal. Soon after, we got a cell call to report the same. It was probably the crest of the hill on 52 blocking reception. We responded with the clue to head west on the 52 and you should re-acquire. They would pass it on. From Ruffin we headed east on Aero to the Sizzler at the 15 (T2 on map). About 10 minutes later, Tom arrived followed by Joe & Tony (6:35). Then there was Mark & Dick (6:45). Joe & Greg at 7:08 and Bill & Jerry at 7:20. A good time was had by all.
