"This Hunt had an unusual twist in that a voice T was set up at a critical intersection to alert Hunters to note the location of a """"Magnetic T-hunt Sign"""" on their way to locate T-1 & T-2. There was no transmitter associated with the sign.... it was just a """"Visual Exercise"""" or kind of an """"Extra Credit"""" bonus if they were observant. If they returned with the correct number of tags (3 max.) AND verified the location of the sign then they would have accumulate the equivalent of 3 1/2 T's towards winning the Hunt. This was possible due to the road going up to Mt. Helix is a one way road up and down so to get to T-1 & T-2 you had to follow that road. We placed the Magnetic T-Hunt Sign on the guardrail on the bridge that you had to drive under to get to the top. On the way down it would have been impossible to be seen. Summary as follows....,We sychronrized the 3 stable T's so they would not overlap and the Hunt started at 6:15 when we turned on T-1. We would have started on time but strangely enough on the south side of Mt.Helix next to the rock face the phone coverage was really bad! We went back down to where the roads split going up and coming down Mt. Helix so we could monitor the Hunters movements and set up the informational voice T. 6:34 Tom, K6VCR comes up Helix Dr. and starts up the one way street,6:35 Joe, KE6PHB and Tony, WA6ZMZ also come up Helix Dr. and go up hill,6:45 Cliff, N5BXE and Bill, W6ZM come in on Vivera Dr. so we think they may have gone further south on 125 and then doubled back They stop pretty close to us but do not see us and take several bearings and then start up the hill. 6:48 Joe and Tony come back down the hill and report that they have spotted the sign but did not find any T's and they they start looking for T-3 which was about 200 yards from where were parked. 6:50 Mark and Dick show up and take several bearing and then go up the hill,6:52 Cliff and Bill return from their trip up the hill,6:57 Tom returns from his trip up the hill.,7:22 Now here is where things got really interesting...Mark and Dick arrive with 2 tags and the location of the the same time Cliff and Bill arrive with 3 tags but have not found the sign yet. They both take off searching for what they are missing!, 7:25 Mark and Dick return with the all three tags from the T's and are declared the ""Winners"",7:28 Cliff and Bill return and give us us the sign location and 3 tags bringing them in to 2nd. Place, only a 3 minute time difference between 1st. & 2nd.,7:37 Joe and Tony return with all 3 tags and location of sign.,7:47 Tom returns with all 3 tags and sign location, We adjourned to San Fillipo's Pizza in La Mesa and closed the joint down at 9:15., Joe N6SZO & Greg W6BAF Results also posted at "
