Remarks

The Hunt started from Grossmont College parking lot at 6:08 instead of 6:00. We are out of practice and were experimenting with a short mag mount and 50 watts from on top of a two story parking garage at the west end of Convoy Ct. and Hickman Field Dr. We figured it would be dark by the time anyone arrived in the area so we could park on top of the garage and no one would see us there and we could watch the activities. The antenna was on top of a metal pipe on the east side of the garage with 50 watts from a Yeasu 1500 mobile rig. T-2 squawk box (25 MW) was across the street to the south and attached to the power pylon on a 3-ele. sweich pointed up and to the south. T-3 squawk box (25 MW) was behind a sign on a gate just to the north of the parking garage. T-4 squawk box (25 MW) was on the north end of the building to the east of the parking lot in a palm tree. I think it was only found by two teams, Joe & Tony and Bill & Brian. And T-5 was a Micro Fox with CW ID hanging on a rope off the west side of the parking garage. We had the regular compliment of teams at the start, Dick & Mary Lou, Bruce & Tom (VOC), Mark & Trevor, Tom (VCR), Bill & Brian and Joe & Tony. Hunt started at 6:08 by my watch. It was reported that VCR and AUW could not hear the signal from the start? 6:25 Tom, K6VCR goes by a couple of time, once into the trailer park just to the west of the parking garage. 6:29 Bruce, KF6AUW goes by on convoy Ct. and turns north. 6:35 we see lights in ball field, figure it must by Bruce and Tom and the kids... unfortunately for them they could not get through the fence to find T-4 which was about 40 feet from the fence.... the lights retreated to the north. 6:43 Mark and Trevor passed by on convoy and turned in where T-2 was and where K6VCR was sitting in his vehicle. 6:46 K6VCR found his way to the top of the parking garage (did I mention it was only two stories high and there was no top and a ramp up?). 6:51 Bruce, KF6AUW and Tom, KJ6VOC arrive on top of garage and park. 6:54 K6VCR finds T-1 and drives off the find other T's. 6:59 Mark, K6MHO and Trevor pull up on top of garage. 7:00 Tom," K6VCR returns and reports in that he has found 4 of the 5 T's and we confirm the locations to make sure he is not just ""Arm Waving"". Mark and Trevor had to leave which leaves Joe", KE6PHB and Tony, WA6ZMZ along with Bruce, KF6AUW and Tom, KJ6VOC reporting in at the same time the locations of 4 T's making them tied for second place. Bill, W6ZM & Brian, KI6DUR reported in next and then Dick, WB6ZAM had sniffer problems and decided to abandon the hunt so we all proceeded to Giovanni's on Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Ruffin Rd for dinner.Results:1st. Tom, K6VCR, 2nd, Tie.. Joe, KE6PHB, Tony, WA6ZMZ and Bruce, KF6AUW, Tom, KJ6VOC, 3rd. Bill, W6ZM and Brian, KI6DUR, 4th. Dick, WB6ZAM and Mary Lou, DNF all T's Mark, K6MHO & Trevor.
